Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum) is a small spiny shrub, with grooved stems and purple flowers. It has been in use for considerably longer than recorded history, theorised to have first been discovered by indigenous Celtic and Pictish peoples of Northern France and Southern England.
However its usage has spread all over the globe along with all human endeavors, viewed by some as nothing more than an invasive weed, in reality: for well over 2000 years Traditional Healers have successfully used Silybum marianum for the treatment of ailments such as asthma, cirrhosis, hepatitis, jaundice, kidney and urinary tract stones, psoriasis as well as showing some indications of relieving the effects of alcoholism.
