Valerian Root (Valeriana officinalis) is a sparsely branched flowering shrub, reaching 1.5m tall when fully grown, it has somewhat pungent, sweetly scented flowers in shades of light pink and white. It has been in usage at the very least since early times by both the Romans and the Greeks.
Even being mentioned directly by the Father of Medicine Hippocrates himself, this herb has many significantly beneficial properties. For over 2000 years Traditional European Medicine has successfully used Valeriana officinalis for the facilitation of restful sleep and general anxiety management, alleviating insomnia.
